Guided tours of the whole house including upstairs, with detailed explanations of the home & family. 85% of the furnishings are original, including many art works by Louisa's youngest sister. The reasonable admission fee supports maintenance of the property.
The tour guide did a great job going through the history of the Alcotts. It would have been nice had she allowed us more time to explore each of the rooms.
For those who read and loved Little Women, this is a must see. The tour of the home where she wrote and lived was so well done. The gift shop was also filled with so many beautiful items.
Knowing that most of the house's contents were owned by and some even made by the Alcotts makes the tour even better.
As a fan of Little Women, I was so excited to visit this house! It wasn't very crowded when I visited, so it was a nice experience. The ticket price includes a video and a guided tour, parking is available and free. It's interesting to note that the tour focuses on more than just Louisa May Alcott and offers a substantial view of their family life, social inclinations and political viewpoints. There is a small museum gift store as well. The guide also pointed us to the nearby Wayside house museum, where Nathaniel Hawthorne lived.
