Love the history! The trail is great and the plaques along the route give great information about the events of April 19, 1775. The musket demonstration is cool to watch. It's really pretty in the fall with all the wonderful colors.
The visitor's center was a beatific 4 minute walk from the parking lot, over a small creek wooden walkway, past a pond, and a through a grassy open space. The 25 minute multi-media presentation on the events around the start of the revolutionary war was one of the best we experienced in the past week. The large map atop the stage setup show a "real time" timeline of the events that day via lit LED lights. White for militia and red for the British, our family followed the timeline quite easily from mom and dad, down to the 5YO. The multimedia nature of the presentation kept our interest and deserved 5 stars. The ranger and shop register person were both very friendly and helpful.
The park boasts a trail-the Battle Road-of approximately 4.5 miles through the woods. There are several restrooms along the way. The National Park maintains several whiteness houses as they would have been in 1775/1776. The visitors’ center has an excellent video for anyone who needs to brush up on their history surrounding the revolutionary war.
Minuteman National Historic Park provides an accessible walking-tail experience for all ages to learn about the beginning of the Colonial Revolution. The Visitor Center near the I-95/MA-2A interchange closes for the Winter, but guests are able to park in the adjacent lots and enjoy the scenery. This is a quick pit stop off the highway for those who want an easy way to stretch legs. Limited bus/RV parking is available.
For a history buff visiting Boston this is a must-see destination. The visitor center has an informative audio visual presentation that recreates the first battles of the American revolution. The trail is quite beautiful and runs along the old Concord road where many of the first battles were fought. Signs along the trail offer great deal of information about historic sites. The trail is great for walking, running or bicycles too. One of favorite places to visit in every season.
